Liverpool find star to replace Luis Diaz after contract talks FAIL
Liverpool travelled up to Newcastle on Wednesday to play Eddie Howe’s unpredictable Magpies in a game that had a little bit more than league points riding on it.

Media attention ahead of the game seemed to be all on one thing - Anthony Gordon.
It’s understandable. Newcastle’s left-winger is a scouser who got his start in the Liverpool academy.
Liverpool were also directly trying to sign Gordon in the summer, with a deal in the works before eventually being pulled.
And with Newcastle’s coaching staff thinking that Gordon could be the difference maker in his battle against Trent Alexander-Arnold, all eyes were on the former Everton man.
But, most crucially, in a Daily Mail report on the player’s season so far, it is admitted that Liverpool are still interested in trying to bring Gordon to the club.
What would Anthony Gordon joining Liverpool mean?
The report also states that Liverpool weren’t willing to pay more than Newcastle’s minimum asking price of £80m or include Jarell Quansah as part of the deal in the summer, hence why it fell through.
But there is a pre-established relationship between himself and Alexander-Arnold - the Liverpool man reportedly singing ‘he’s coming home’ when Gordon admitted he was in talks with Liverpool whilst England were in Germany for the Euros.
It’s also significant for the club itself. Luis Diaz is typically the starting left-winger in Arne Slot’s side, although he did play as a central attacker against Manchester City last Sunday with Cody Gakpo on the left to good reward.
Yet amid rumours of Diaz’s dissatisfaction with the new deal the club is offering him, there is legitimate potential that additional cover could be needed at the position come the start of next season.
There are still many moving parts to Liverpool’s squad this season. Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold are all yet to officially commit their futures to the club beyond the end of the season, whilst rumours of a move for Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush could shake up Liverpool’s attack.
