Liverpool Football Club and Nike are collaborating with NBA legend LeBron James over the release of a special kit.

The 38-year-old, Nike's highest-profile client and a Liverpool fan himself, is in talks with the club and Nike over a potential deal to release a special kit. According to the report from Liverpool Echo, the collaboration is all in favour of maximizing the partnership between the football club and the sports brand.

JAMES AND LIVERPOOL

LeBron James is a former Reds shareholder and also owns a 1% stake in the current ownership of FSG. To others around the world, he is regarded as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. So it comes as no surprise that FSG would be all over the fact that a potential collaboration between Nike, it's highest-paid athlete and the football club would come to fruition. The first mention of a "special release" kit came from FootyHeadlines.com, who also show potential leaked images of the shirt in question, which they say is expected to release "later this month or February 2023."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

This is something that has come out of absolutely nowhere. But in my opinion it's a genius idea. Having a major sport icon in the form of LeBron James be in talks over releasing a clothing collection with your football club and one of the biggest sports brands in the world - it's going to attract people, regardless of whether fans like Liverpool or not. LeBron James is an icon of NBA. It will be intriguing to see if the kit that is shown on FootyHeadlines is the kit that is released.
