Alisson admits he wants to play for ANOTHER club
Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation is far from regular this season.
Between signing Georgia’s Euro 2024 hero Giorgi Mamardashvili and letting him stay at Valencia before joining in summer 2025, Alisson still being arguably the best goalkeeper in the world and then Caoimhin Kelleher looking unbeatable in net after covering for the injured Brazilian, Liverpool have an embarrassment of riches.

Kelleher has been outspoken about his desire to be a number one, and once again proved his credentials by saving Kylian Mbappe’s penalty to keep the score at 1-0 against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
All the while, rumours are circling that Alisson could be on the way out as soon as this summer - the latest being Galatasaray hoping to use their links to his coach, and legendary keeper, Claudio Taffarel to lure him to Istanbul.
And in an interview with OneFootball, the Brazilian admitted that he wants to return to his boyhood club, Internacional.
“I watch all of Inter’s games. There is always that feeling of good memories and the desire to wear the Inter shirt again,” Alisson said.
“I have a three-year contract with Liverpool. I don’t think the future is definitive for anyone, but in football, I hope to fulfill my contract here in England and, then, after that… I am open.”
Is Alisson leaving Liverpool?
The comments add another distinction to the already confusing goalkeeper saga at the club.
“I hope to fulfill my contract here in England” may just be a turn of phrase, but there is also doubt in that tone about whether he will see out to the end of his contract or not.
Amid the rumours of his leaving, this could be incredibly significant. His desire to return to Internacional eventually isn’t surprising - no one could say he doesn’t deserve a return home - but the fact he’s already thinking about it is telling.
The assumption so far has been that Alisson would remain Liverpool’s starter next season, with Mamardashvili sharing some time between the sticks with him after Kelleher is sold.
But, given the diminishing returns on an expiring contract and it being evident that Alisson’s head isn’t at Liverpool beyond his 2027 expiration, the wise thing to do may be to sell him as soon as possible to get the biggest fee the club can.
But that then leaves them in a situation where either Kelleher gets sold or Mamardashvili becomes one of the most expensive backup goalkeepers in history.
And alongside that, we reported earlier in the week that the club are interested in Roma’s 18-year-old shot-stopper Renato Marin.
What is clear is that this is a mess of sporting director Richard Hughes’ own making and Liverpool will lose some serious talent before the situation has any clarity.
