Alexis Mac Allister opens up on EMOTIONAL relationship after SHOCK break-up
Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister has been having a good season as part of Arne Slot’s first-choice midfield.
The Argentinian has started 10 out of Liverpool’s 11 Premier League games so far, and is an important part of Slot’s desire to build out from the back due to his composure on the ball and ability to find the right pass.

However, Mac Allister may sit out this weekend’s game away to Southampton after he was taken off in pain during Argentina’s World Cup qualifying tie against Peru, where he was on the end of a poor tackle.
Regardless of his fitness, Mac Allister is likely to at least be dropped to the bench by Slot ahead of a huge week for the club, especially as he’s been flying back from the time spent in South America during the international break.
While at home, Mac Allister took the opportunity to speak out about his breakup with Argentinian influencer Camila Mayán, the subsequent lawsuit and some bizarre throuple claims.
It has been two years since Mac Allister and Mayan ended their relationship, having split shortly after Argentina's World Cup win.
Mac Allister starting dating his current love interest and childhood friend, Ailen Cova, shortly after and has now been sued by his ex for compensation for the time the two spent together outside of Argentina. The pair were together during Mac Allister's time at Brighton and it is understood that Mayan has also accused Mac Allister of being unfaithful.
Mayan made the claims on an episode of Argentinian show called Patria y Familia: "I was waiting for a moment to say to her: 'Hey, do you have a problem with me?'. They would leave, and I couldn’t say that. But I went to the door to greet her, because I have always been polite, and I said: 'I would like us to share more things.'
"We share the boyfriend," she added.
For his part, Mac Allister has tried not to speak about the situation publicly, recently telling The Mirror: “She took her path, I took mine, and that’s it. As for the other thing (the lawsuit), everything is in court, where it should be, and we are waiting.
“At the time we discussed what we needed to discuss, but it was clearly her decision, everything is fine and she is within her rights.”
However, in a wide-ranging interview with Argentinian outlet Infobae, Mac Allister has now opened up about the whole incident and how it affected him.
"Obviously I don't like appearing in any other field than football because I was born into a football family, I live playing football and it's what I like and it's where I feel comfortable, so it's not good at all," he said of the media interest in his personal life.
"But in the end I also understand it because because of what we do, because of what we've achieved, we're exposed to a lot of things. I always laugh because if I hadn't been world champion, nobody would have talked about my situation and nothing would have come out to say anything. We have a lot of exposure because of what we've achieved, it's part of this and it's all good.
"If you ask me what I prefer, give me the World Cup."
Mac Allister: I'm no romantic
The whole situation has thrown a spotlight on Mac Allister's current relationship with Cova, who he recently made a public show of affection for on Instagram.
However, Mac Allister said he doesn't see himself as a romantic person.
"No, I'm not really a romantic person. I do what I feel like," he said. "For example, the other day was my girlfriend's birthday and I gave her flowers, I go to work out and I leave her a little message: "Have a nice day" and things like that.
The 25-year-old said he tries to pay attention to his partner to know what she wants and needs.
"The other day my girlfriend was telling me that it wasn't the gift itself, but that she had heard that she liked it. I try to be attentive in these things."
With the lawsuit ongoing, Mac Allister will be hoping that his performances on the pitch are making headlines in the future, rather than life off it.
