However, with Jurgen Klopp and FSG playing a key role in resurrecting success both on and off the pitch, the club is now a global franchise again that is recognised everywhere in the world.

That might not be the case had it been for one man, who Liverpool has just confirmed they have made a momentous agreement about.

The manager we are talking about is Bill Shankly of course. Shankly took over Liverpool when the Reds were in the second tier of English football.

The Scotsman led the club back to the first tier, guided Liverpool to the league title and won the FA Cup as well as leading the Reds to European football.

In his time at the club he completely transformed Liverpool and kick-started an era of dominance in the 1970s and 1980s that looked like it was never going to be toppled.

Now Shankly's tale is going be shown in an entirely new light. Liverpool confirmed on its official website that they have reached an agreement with A24 to depict Shankly's life in a drama series.

The award winning movie studio is renowned across the world for their brilliant productions. Among its latest success stories is Everything Everywhere All at Once which swept away the Oscars winning multiple academy accolades, including the Best Picture award in 2023.

Award-winning playwright and screenwriter Jack Thorne, who has written productions like The Cursed Child, His Dark Materials and Netflix's latest movie Joy, has been tasked with writing the script for the show.

The ambition is not only to convey Liverpool's rise to the top under Shankly but also to depict the cultural happenings around the city during the 1960s and 70s with the show set to be filmed in Liverpool and at Anfield.

This is not the first depiction of Shankly's life in a fictional form. David Peace's Red or Dead also describes the story of the Liverpool boss' life at Anfield.

But it's the first time Shankly's story is getting a screen adaptation in what will be a momentous agreement for Liverpool especially if the show becomes successful, which will increase the club's brand even further.
