Liverpool 'admire' West Ham's Jarrod Bowen

Liverpool are long-term admirers of West Ham's Jarrod Bowen, according to one report.

The subject of succession planning for the Reds' right wing has ramped up in recent weeks, following the Saudi Pro League's attempts to lure Mohamed Salah to the Middle East.

Al Ittihad saw an offer worth up to £150m swiftly rejected for Liverpool's number 11, but most reports suggest the closing of the transfer window will not be the end of Saudi interest in Salah.

While the Reds' hierarchy flat out refused to entertain offers for Salah this summer, more clubs are expected to make overtures for Liverpool's record goalscorer in upcoming windows, with the situation becoming more complicated as the player's contract winds down.

Salah, now 31, has less than two years to run on current deal and the Reds will soon be faced with the decision of whether to offer to extend his terms again, or sell the star while he still has value.

Amid the speculation over Salah's medium to long-term future, a number of players have been speculated about as possible replacements when he does finally leave.

The Athletic claim 26-year-old Bowen is a player Liverpool "admire and have been watching for a number of seasons."

The long-read article outlining possible Salah replacements does not provide any specifics on the nature of the Reds' interest or how much Bowen might be available for.

Like Salah, the forward's contract with the Hammers is set to expire in 2025, meaning Liverpool could find value for money in a deal next year. However, the Daily Mail reported earlier this summer that Bowen is in line to receive an extension offer to double his money at the London Stadium, which would make a hypothetical transfer much more expensive.

The same report highlights that Bowen – who has started 2023/24 with three goals and an assist in four games – is "happy at West Ham and is a new father to twin daughters with partner Dani Dyer."

That was back in June, however, and there has been little reported about a new contract since.

Elsewhere in the Athletic's piece, Leroy Sane is another player mentioned as an option for Liverpool. The former Manchester City star was also one of two wingers (along with Federico Chiesa) named by Calciomercato last month in Liverpool's search for Salah's successor.

As with Bowen and Salah, Sane (27) sees his current deal with Bayern Munich expire in 2025.
