Trent Alexander-Arnold issues praise for Chelsea's Edouard Mendy
Trent Alexander-Arnold has taken the opportunity in a post-match interview with the official Liverpool website to label Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy as world-class.
The Reds and the Blues went toe-to-toe in an enthralling encounter at Stamford Bridge with the sides sharing the spoils in the end after Liverpool were pegged back from 2-0 to 2-2 just before half-time.
Both teams had chances in the second half to win the game but the pair of goalkeepers on show, Mendy and Caoimhin Kelleher for the Reds, had inspired performances to stop further strikes hitting the net.
Indeed, Alexander-Arnold took time to praise our young Irish stopper but also praise the man in net for Sunday's opponents:
"When Caoimh was needed he's pulled off two world-class saves in the first and second half and he's stepped into Ali's shoes and done really well today. It's a credit to him, but we defended well and never gave them too many chances and we had the better chances in the second half.
"But when you are up against a world-class team with a world-class goalkeeper he makes world-class saves. So, like I said, I think a point apiece is fair."
Anfield Watch Verdict
It was a real topsy turvy game at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon and it was ultimately a draw between the two sides - a result that neither will be massively happy with.
Mendy certainly had a good game to deny the likes of Mo Salah as much as he did and there were plenty of displays on the pitch that rightly earned praise on both sides.
It was a great game for the neutral but certainly not one Blues and Reds fans could relax watching.
