Liverpool 5-1 Toulouse - Player Ratings

Liverpool were in their typical electric form in front of goal, scoring five as they cruised past Toulouse to continue their perfect record in the Europa League.

The game got off to a absolutely perfect start from the Reds' perspective, with Diogo Jota scoring a beautiful solo goal inside of eight minutes.

As the Portuguese International picked up a loose ball in the final third, he turned magnificently, began a driven, slalomed run into the box and cooly found the bottom corner to put Liverpool 1-0 to the good.

The good mood didn't last long, however, with Thijs Dallinga breaking away just five minutes later. The Toulouse number nine was picked out at the end of a rapid counter-attack from the French outfit and buried it low past Caoimhin Kelleher to bring his side level.

Just past the half hour mark, Liverpool got themselves back in front, courtesy of none other than Wataru Endo. Good work from Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones on the right flank found Trent Alexander-Arnold in space, who whipped a great ball into the danger area, but it was all about the header from Endo - absolute perfection.

When it rains, it pours, as just moments later Darwin Nunez thundered the ball into the roof of the net to secure Liverpool a 3-1 lead heading into the second-half. The ball fell to him kindly in the box, and Mr Chaos himself made no mistake - some season our number nine is having.

Liverpool had to wait until the 65 minute for the fourth and who else but Ryan Gravenberch? The midfielder has been immense since joining the club, and he put up another man of the match performance against Toulouse. The less said about the miss by Darwin Nunez the better though, the striker did remarkably well to create the opportunity, but how on earth did he miss?

The Reds made a flurry of substitutions late in the second-half to help see out the game, as Liverpool saw out an impressive victory against the French side, but not before Salah forced his way onto the scoresheet in a way that only the Egyptian can, to make it 5-1 on the night.

CAOIMHIN KELLEHER (GK): 5

It'd be harsh to say Kelleher was to blame for Dallinga's goal in the first half - it was a good low finish after all - but you can't help but feel the Irishman could have done better. The second-half didn't get much better, with the keeper being completely rescued by a clearance off the line after making a dreadful pass.

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD (RB): 7

Overall, Alexander-Arnold had a good game, the assist for Liverpool's second goal was pin-point in typical Trent fashion and the second-half goal-line clearance to bail out Kelleher was a thing of beauty. However, he should really have done better Toulouse's counter-attack goal in the first-half - if he would have stepped up an extra half a yard, he would have played Dallinga offside.

JOE GOMEZ (CB): 5

He made a few well-timed interceptions, and his recovery pace certainly came in handy in moments, but ultimately it was far too easy for Toulouse to cut through the Liverpool defence on the counter-attack, with the first-half goal coming down Gomez' side with the Englishman nowhere to be seen.

JOEL MATIP (CB): 5

Much of the same from Matip, Liverpool's second string centre-back pairing weren't really up to the races, with Toulouse's attack finding it far too easy to break quickly and create chances.

LUKE CHAMBERS (LB): 6

Considering Chambers made his first senior start for Liverpool, at Anfield, on a European night, the lad should be proud of himself. He did the simple stuff well and largely didn't look out of place, even if he was nowhere to be seen when Dallinga broke down the right flank for his first-half goal.

WATARU ENDO (CM): 8

By far his best performance since joining the Reds, Endo was everywhere. He was a constant option for the centre-backs, was great on the turn, won the ball back for fun, and of course, he scored his first Liverpool goal with an absolutely perfect header. Not bad for a night's work.

RYAN GRAVENBERCH (CM): 9

If you had just one word to describe Gravenberch, by far the most appropriate is bargain. To get a player of his quality and age bracket for £34m is quite frankly a joke. Pressing, winning fouls, making incredible runs, cross-field passes, the Dutchman has it all. Oh, and of course, he had to get himself on the scoresheet once again!

CURTIS JONES (CM): 7

Jones didn't really put a foot wrong all game and made several great moves in the final third, one of which forcing a rebound for Darwin Nunez to bury for Liverpool's third.

HARVEY ELLIOTT (RW): 8

With Ben Doak injured and Mohamed Salah rested, Elliott was pushed out on the wing for the first time this season, and the youngster performed admirably. He didn't stop running from the word go, and his link-up play with Jones and Alexander-Arnold on the right flank was particularly satisfying.

DIOGO JOTA (ST): 8

Even Salah himself might have a hard time convincing people that he's the club's most clinical forward, because when Jota gets chances, he very rarely misses. Everything about his goal was special - the turn, the slalom run and the low driven finish into the bottom corner, Liverpool's number 20 was the coolest man in the stadium once again.

DARWIN NUNEZ (LW): 7

Nunez didn't have the most lively of games by his standards, but ultimately he did the exact job he was supposed to do - he got himself on the scoresheet once again, and what a finish by the way! And what an incredible run for Liverpool's fourth. The entire world, including Nunez himself will be wondering how he missed the open goal though, but we've seen that before!

SUBSTITUTES:

CODY GAKPO (DARWIN NUNEZ, 66'): 6

You can't ask for too much when a player makes his comeback from injury, but Gakpo came on and made himself a presence. It was great for him to get himself some minutes ahead of the Premier League game this weekend and make himself an option for Klopp's forward line once again.

JARELL QUANSAH (TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD, 66'): 7

Came on at centre-half and pushed Gomez out wide to cover Alexander-Arnold. Was introduced to help keep things solid at the back and see the game out, and he did that well.

CALUM SCANLON (LUKE CHAMBERS, 66'): 6

Another European debutant, Scanlon played well for 25 minutes, but admittedly, the youngster didn't have much to do with Liverpool firmly in the driving seat.

MOHAMED SALAH (RYAN GRAVENBERCH, 68'): 8

Of course he had to score, because when doesn't Salah score? With just 20 minutes on the pitch, the Egyptian King wasn't leaving Anfield without his name in lights once again - the winger thundered an inch-perfect strike into the top corner in the dying moments of the game to secure the 5-1 victory on the night.

JAMES McCONNELL (CURTIS JONES, 88'): 6

Only had a few minutes when he came on, but what an experience for the youngster!
