Liverpool get chance for REVENGE as first pre-season fixture takes shape
Liverpool haven’t had the best of luck against Newcastle this season.
Although the Reds wrapped up an easy home Premier League victory against Eddie Howe’s side last month, they dropped two points to the Magpies in December during a hotly-contested 3-3 draw.

And worse was to come in last week’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, when Newcastle downed Liverpool 2-1 to condemn Arne Slot’s side to defeat.
That was a significant blow but there remains a strong possibility that the Reds might get a chance to gain revenge before long.
Liverpool v Newcastle in Hong Kong?
“Newcastle could be set for a Carabao Cup final rematch with Liverpool sooner than we think… in Hong Kong!,” says a report in the Daily Mail.
“Confidential understands the Magpies are continuing to explore a pre-season tour of the Far East, with facilities in Hong Kong identified. And with Liverpool thought to be doing the same, a friendly at the brand-new Kai Tak Stadium has been mooted.”
Liverpool are not expected to go back to the United States for their pre-season tour ahead of the 2025/26 season. Instead it looks as though Slot’s side will be welcomed back to Asia.
The club were frequent visitors to Asia under Jurgen Klopp, playing in Thailand and Singapore in 2022 and Singapore in 2023. They also competed in the Premier League Asia Trophy in 2017.
Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool visited Thailand, Australia and Malaysia in 2015.
Japan and Australia also discussed
Japan has been mooted as another potential pre-season destination with a high-profile sponsorship deal with Japan Airlines in place and national team captain Wataru Endo among the playing staff.
Rumours also abound about a post-season friendly in Australia for the week the Premier League campaign ends although reports also suggest these are currently wide of the mark.
So although Liverpool’s exact pre-season schedule is still to be confirmed, it appears as though a rematch against Newcastle in Hong Kong could be on the cards. Let’s hope Slot’s side - and any potential new signings - fare better than they did at Wembley.
