Liverpool set to CASH IN with bonus £12m WINDFALL
Part of the strategy of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s owners, to maximise Liverpool’s revenues is to expand their global footprint.
Liverpool had the seventh-highest revenue in world football in 2022/23 according to Deloitte’s Football Money League.

And whilst that is obviously amazing, FSG will want to push Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich ahead of them.
A significant way they can do this, and expand their overseas reach at the same time, is through their pre-season tours.
Last summer the Reds headed to America, FSG’s home market and the most lucrative, ever-growing market for European teams to push into.
This coming season they have a different approach. The Athletic are reporting that Liverpool are planning to travel to Japan and Hong Kong for next summer’s pre-season tour.
Liverpool's links to Japan
And, as TBR Football point out, the Asian market is the main centre of operation for their sponsor, Standard Chartered, as well as tying in to their new partnership Japan Airlines.
“People don’t realise just how big Liverpool are in Asia,” said Kieran Maguire, the author of the Price of Football and football finance lecturer at the University of Liverpool, to TBR Football.
“There are the links with Standard Chartered and a lot of attraction to the brand.
“The region is a goldmine as far as FSG are concerned. The owners are financiers first and their interest in football is very much secondary.”
Additionally, Tokyo-based publishing company Kodansha are Liverpool’s official publishing partners.
And this is before we get into the fact that Japan’s men’s national team captain, Wataru Endo, plays for the club.
As a result, Japan itself is the perfect place for Liverpool to try and break further into. Football is huge in the country and Liverpool’s links are well founded.
And as the report states, teams can look to make £12m+ just from promoter fees and other commercial tie-ins.
The possibilities are endless.
