Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City: Player Ratings

Liverpool came from behind to draw 1-1 with Manchester City, indicating that the Premier League title race is once again set to go to the wire.

John Stones scored the only goal of the first-half, squeezing home from a well-worked Kevin De Bruyne corner.

However, Liverpool came out swinging after the restart, with Alexis Mac Allister tucking home from the spot after Darwin Nunez was hacked to the ground by Ederson.

Both teams had chances to win it, with Luis Diaz missing a trifecta of golden chances before Jeremy Doku hit the inside of the post late on.

However, neither side could find that elusive goal, with Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola sharing the spoils in what could be their final ever meeting.

Here are the player ratings from the contest.

Caoimhin Kelleher (GK): 7

Forced into action early on, getting down well to deny Julian Alvarez before palming Kevin De Bruyne's venomous effort to safety. Was caught out at his near post for the opener, but redeemed himself as he put in a vital block to deny Foden.

Conor Bradley (RB): 7

Caught napping a couple of times early on, leaving space at right-back to allow City to break in behind down his flank. However, grew into the game and produced Liverpool's first chance going forward, driving at Ake before fizzing one across goal. Subbed.

Jarell Quansah (CB): 7

Defensively sound when called upon, notably putting in an important block to deny Foden's effort from range. Incredibly composed when in possession - at least until he wasn't, getting dispossessed in a very dangerous position after the break and needing his skipper to save the day.

Virgil van Dijk (CB): 9

Vital intervention early on to dispossess Foden in the box, who was driving towards the Liverpool goal. Assured at the back as always - something that was demonstrated when he was being rushed by Erling Haaland, jockeying like a pro to force the Norwegian into a lacklustre effort.

Joe Gomez (LB): 6

Found things difficult during the opening stages against Foden, who was coming out victorious in most of the battles down that left-hand side. A relief to see him move to right back, where he massively improved.

Wataru Endo (DM): 8

Tidied things up in the six, always helping connect defence and attack. So solid, once again.

Alexis Mac Allister (CM): 8

Composed as ever during the opening stages, cleaning up at the back and always looking to play forward. Delivered when needed, firing into the corner from the spot to equalise.

Dominik Szoboszlai (CM): 6

Scheming throughout the half in the middle, but fluffed probably Liverpool's biggest chance of the half, seeing his uncontested header fly over from the centre of the box. Subbed.

Harvey Elliott (RW): 8

Bundle of energy down that right-hand side, always keen to play the ball and used possession brilliantly throughout the contest.

Darwin Nunez (ST): 7

Not short of effort in the first half, but strayed offside a few too many times when the Reds were in really promising positions. Made up for any shortcomings immediately after the restart, winning a penalty as he latched on to a weak backpass.

Luis Diaz (LW): 6

Put the ball in the net only for Darwin Nunez, his assister, to be ruled offside. Electric throughout the contest but final product really let him down, missing a hat-trick of golden chances.

SUBSTITUTES

Mohamed Salah (Szoboszlai, 61'): 7

Immediate impact off the bench, threading Diaz through only for the Colombian to botch his finish. Constant threat but crossing and finishing had something to desired.

Andy Robertson (Bradley, 61'): 8

A presence at the back and going forward, peppering the opposition box with a smattering of dangerous deliveries.

Cody Gakpo (Nunez, 76'): 6

A threat off the bench, found himself in decent positions as Liverpool sought a winner. However, bottled the shot in stoppage time as the ball fell to him in the box.
