Levi Colwill Liverpool transfer back ON after sudden twist
New developments have changed everything in the future of Levi Colwill.
During the summer of 2023 the Reds had genuine interest in the Chelsea defender. The England international at the time had not yet extended his deal with the Blues and it seemed like a transfer could be struck between the two sides.

In the end though, Colwill made the decision to extend his deal until 2028. But that has not made Liverpool's interest in the 22-year-old go away.
Recently, there have been reports less than a month ago that Liverpool still admire Colwill and would be ready to make a move for him if he became available.
If is the keyword here. Less than a month ago Colwill being on the market did not seem like a possibility. He's been regularly playing for Chelsea and he's an England international.
Why would Chelsea even entertain the idea? And why would he consider his future?

Levi Colwill move back on the agenda
Well, things have changed. At this moment in time, Chelsea are leading the race for the signature of Dean Huijsen. The Spanish centre-back can play on either side of the defence so at first hand this doesn't seem like it could impact Colwill.
After all, it's entirely possible he would partner Huijsen if he was to join the Blues.
However, according to a report from The Telegraph, Enzo Maresca views Wesley Fofana as a key part of his system meaning Huijsen is being lined up to play alongside Fofana on the left-side.
This obviously leaves Colwill out of the equation who would drop to the bench.
That's not something a young player of his status is going to be satisfied with. If Huijsen does join Chelsea this sudden twist in his fortune could very well drive Colwill back to Liverpool.
The Reds are of course interested in Huijsen as well. So, they want to add another centre-back to bolster Arne Slot's option and if it's not Huijsen a silver lining of missing out to Chelsea could be that the Reds chances of getting Colwill would increase.
It would still be a difficult deal to pull off. But there are a lot of reasons why it would make sense to go after the Chelsea defender.
Cowill ranks in the top 10 among centre-backs for defensive duels (70%) and aerial duels (63.5%). He's still very young and has the potential to become even better.
His homegrown status is a massive bonus considering Liverpool need to add more homegrown talent.
And then there is the legacy as well. So many former Chelsea players have succeeded at Anfield in recent years. From Daniel Sturridge to Mohamed Salah - and now Rio Ngumoha as well.

Could Colwill become the next one on the list? He's certainly one to keep an eye on. Everything hinges on the decision Huijsen will make.
