Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas is set to sign a contract extension with the Reds keeping him at Anfield until 2027.

According to The Athletic, the Greece international has agreed a two-year extension to the contract that he originally signed when he made the £11.75m move from Olympiacos three years ago.

The 27-year-old has made 62 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, the majority when coming off the bench for the ever-reliable Andy Robertson.

In his debut season for the Reds, Tsimikas failed to make much of an impact, clocking just two Premier League appearances, before registering 13 outings the following year in the 2021/22 season. However, the full back enjoyed more outings in the domestic cups, while he became a fan favourite after scoring the winning penalty in Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Chelsea.

Last season, Tsimikas made a much more improved 28 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

Tsimikas has only made one substitute appearance so far this season, but Jurgen Klopp is keen to retain his services and with the left-back happy at Anfield, negotiations over a new contract have apparently 'progressed swiftly'.
