Kostas Tsimikas is one Liverpool player to keep an eye on during the summer transfer window, according to a reputable journalist.

With Arne Slot confirmed as the Reds' new head coach, attentions will soon turn towards who will be part of the Dutchman's plans for the 2023/24 campaign amid talk of potential incomings such as Leny Yoro and Orkun Kokcu.

Although given the size of the Liverpool first-team squad - even with the confirmed departures of Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip - it could be a case of new signings are affected by player sales as sporting director Richard Hughes and FSG’s Head of Football Michael Edwards aim to build a squad that allows Slot to challenge for honours.

With it looking unlikely that Mohamed Salah will be leaving and Alisson Becker keen to stay put despite interest from Saudi Arabia, which Liverpool players could be up for sale this summer?

Well, journalist David Lynch suggests Tsimikas might fall into that category given the Greece international fell behind Joe Gomez in the left-back pecking order towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Tsimikas is one to keep an eye on

"Kostas Tsimikas is not one where there’s been any reports, but he’s 28-years-old, he barely featured in the second half of the season," Lynch said on his YouTube channel. "You had Joe Gomez there who jumped ahead of him in the left-back pecking order.

"I think this is the summer you maybe make the decision that it’s time to move on. Obviously the offer’s got to be right for him, it’s got to be right for Liverpool. He did only sign a fresh contract last summer but I think that was very much about protecting his value.

"No developments on that yet but it’s just one I would say to absolutely keep an eye on. I think Kostas Tsimikas could be a little bit of a story this summer in terms of a potential departure because he will want to play more football.

"Even though there’s a change of manager there might be an opportunity for him to go elsewhere and be first choice because I don’t think that opportunity is going to be available to him here."

With Greece not qualifying for this summer's European Championships, it does mean Tsimikas should be among the first batch of players to report for pre-season training in July where he will have the opportunity to stake his claim for a regular place under Slot.
