Konate VERDICT, Slot PRAISED, Dalglish IMMORTALISED: Liverpool FC news recap
There was plenty to cover on Tuesday as Liverpool enjoyed a brilliant weekend kicking off their Premier League campaign with a victory away to Ipswich Town.
After the game, the focus has been on Arne Slot's call to take off Jarell Quansah at half-time. On BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club Chris Sutton, the former Premier League striker, praised Slot's decision: "I really like Arne Slot for making that decision - if he wasn't happy with Quansah, he's quite within his rights to show strong management and make a point."
Sutton acknowledged that while the substitution could impact Quansah, he also believed it was crucial for Slot to establish high standards.
“From Quansah's perspective, he'll be disappointed in himself, but he'll have to work his way back and make sure he's strong enough in those one-versus-one situations,” Sutton explained.

Speaking to the Liverpool official website after the match, Jota explained the tactical adjustments, noting that Slot’s approach favours his strengths as a central striker.
"If I stay in the middle and wait for those chances to come in and score them, I think that is what I do the best, so you can take that into the season," he said.
"It’s obviously a bit different from [Jürgen] Klopp where I maybe was useful out wide," Jota added.
