Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided positive injury updates on Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota ahead of the FA Cup third-round replay against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

As cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp said in his pre-match press conference that Jota is 'out on the pitch' and is likely to return for Liverpool's UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Real Madrid in February.

"He looks really good - he is out on the pitch doing a lot of stuff already. But it will be another few weeks. Real Madrid? I think so, yes."

As for Darwin Nunez - who missed the 3-0 defeat to Brighton with a hamstring injury - Klopp suggested that the Uruguayan striker faces a race against time to be fit for the game against Wolves.

"Darwin is very close but it's Monday and tomorrow is the game.”

The Liverpool manager also confirmed in his press conference that Stefan Bajcetic and James Milner are available for the FA Cup tie after returning to full fitness, while Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Arthur Melo and Roberto Firmino are still on the sidelines.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Darwin Nunez's swift return is a massive boost for Liverpool. Even if the 23-year-old striker misses the trip to Molineux, the Reds will hope he can return to the starting XI for the crucial Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday.

With Cody Gakpo still finding his feet at the club and Mohamed Salah not at his brilliant best, the onus will be on Nunez to produce the goods in front of goal against the Blues.

As for Diogo Jota - who is recovering from a calf injury after being stretchered off in the 1-0 win against Manchester City back in October - Liverpool will look to ease him into the team after a lengthy spell out on the sidelines. The Portuguese attacker has quickly become a fan-favourite at the club since joining the Reds from Wolves in 2020, and his return to the team for the UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid will undoubtedly be a huge boost for the club.
