Of course, Liverpool are not alone in their admiration for the sensational winger with Paris Saint Germain also pushing to sign the exciting talent.

With Antonio Conte now confirming that Kvaratskhelia intends to leave Napoli in this window any potential departure seems to be accelerating and it seems like there is an agreement in place for him to leave the club.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia nears agreement to leave Napoli

According to Foot Mercato, PSG are now nearing a verbal agreement with Napoli over Kvaratskhelia with a move edging closer to being completed. The intention is for the two clubs to wrap up the deal next week.

There is no mention of Liverpool being involved. It remains to be seen what the Reds' stance is as a move is accelerated for Kvaratskhelia.

Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed a deal is close with PSG having a contract agreement in place for the Georgian as well.

Based on those reports it certainly feels like a move for Kvaratskhelia is imminent in the January window.

However, it's not quite what Liverpool fans will have wanted to hear. Kvaratskhelia would have been a brilliant addition for the Reds.

When news arose that Liverpool could be interested in him on Thursday, everyone's hopes piqued.

After all this is a player Liverpool have admired for a long time and he could be a game changing addition to the squad.

Now though it just feels like Liverpool's attempts were in vain yet again. Just like with Leny Yoro and Martin Zubimendi the Reds are going to miss out on another target after stating their intentions of wanting to sign them.

That is a terrible sign for this new Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes era at Anfield.
