Manchester City's hopes for a strong finish to the season have been dealt a worrying blow as star striker Erling Haaland appeared to suffer an injury during a training session with the Norwegian national team on Tuesday.

This news has sparked concern among City fans about their top scorer's availability for the crucial top-of-the-table Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Etihad on 31 March, following the current international break.

Despite recent niggles, Haaland had been called up to the squad for friendlies against the Czech Republic and Denmark in the coming days.

In the video, which has surfaced on social media, the 23-year-old forward can be seen struggling during the session with his Norway teammates.

The former Borussia Dortmund man was seen limping and holding his knees in discomfort, attempting to play through the discomfort.

Despite his efforts, the forward seemed to be in pain and was unable to move freely on the pitch.

Ongoing issue

Despite being substituted during City's FA Cup quarter-final victory over Newcastle due to apparent injury concerns, Pep Guardiola, the City manager, had initially downplayed the severity of the situation, urging caution for the player while on international duty.

"He is not my player anymore from now on; what they [the Norway coaches] decide will be fine," Guardiola said.

"They know that they fought a lot and trained a lot, a lot of adrenaline and concentration to arrive in this position. They know they are friendly games, and they have to handle them wisely. Hopefully, they can do it."

However, footage from the Norway camp has subsequently shown Haaland struggling, raising doubts about his fitness for upcoming fixtures, including City's clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals just a week after the Arsenal showdown.

That said, the Norwegian Football Association has yet to officially confirm any injury nor Haaland's withdrawal from the squad.
