Kevin De Bruyne issues Liverpool title race warning to Man City
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has warned his teammates that Liverpool can still close the gap to an uncomfortable size if the Reds win all their games in the Premier League title race.
At the moment, City look very much in charge in the battle for the crown in the 21/22 season, with them edging out Chelsea at the weekend in the Premier League.
Liverpool, meanwhile, beat Brentford the following day to close the gap to 11 points, which can become eight if they win their game in hand.
Indeed, a win at the Etihad later on this season would further reduce the gap to five but there are a lot of matches that need playing between then and now and so it remains to be seen what the state of play is when the two teams meet at that point.
Liverpool are capable of going on big winning runs, though, and that needs to be remembered according to De Bruyne, who said to Match of the Day on Saturday:
Anfield Watch Verdict
The professional in De Bruyne is always going to say this but whether he actually believes Liverpool will close the gap down is another question.
Of course, the Reds have it in them to do it but City are looking in a strong position and they hardly ever drop points, especially when the title is in the offing.
Liverpool just have to keep winning games, and then we'll see what happens.
