Jurgen Klopp's wife Ulla BREAKS Liverpool hearts on emotional day
It was an emotional day at Anfield, where the Liverpool faithful bid farewell to Jurgen Klopp after close to nine years as manager.
The result was beside the point as the Reds welcomed Wolves for the final Premier League match of the season but the home side nonetheless won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah.
With third place in the table already shored up, there was little riding on the visit of Wolves and so it gave the red half of Merseyside a chance to reflect on Klopp’s era and to say goodbye in person.
The German has led Liverpool back to their perch both in Europe and in the Premier League - adding eight pieces of major silverware to the Reds’ honours board throughout his time in charge.
Anfield gave an extraordinary rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone pre-match, with Klopp almost being moved to tears, and, after the game, the manager and his staff gave a fond salute to the Kop.
Heartstrings were being tugged left, right and centre and it was the sight of Klopp’s wife, Ulla Sandrock, which tipped many Liverpool fans overboard by the end.
Ulla pays emotional tribute
Ulla was pictured wiping a tear from her eye as the city paid tribute, later being seen waving her “You’ll Never Walk Alone” scarf proudly above her head.
She was also captured on camera as Liverpool fans paid their famous musical tribute to Klopp in the form of an adapted Beatles number.
“Ulla crying in the stands, Klopp trying to hold it together on the bench in added time, Virgil not wanting to stop hugging him and Trent with tears in front of the Kop all set me off! What a man. He deserves every bit of this love,” wrote one fan on social media site X, formerly Twitter.
“Ulla singing the Jürgen Klopp song is gonna finish me off,” wrote another.
“Ok, Ulla crying in the stands as the entirety of Anfield serenades Jurgen for about 10 min and then Big Virg burying his face in Klopp’s shoulder with tears in his eyes has fully opened the waterworks here,” said a third.
Klopp credits his other half with being the driving force behind his decision to sign a new Liverpool contract back in 2022.
“Why is now the question,” he said at the time. “Because Ulla wants to stay and as a good husband what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You are staying."
Klopp and Ulla have been married since 2005, recently welcoming a grandchild after Ulla’s son, Dennis, and his partner had a son.
Ulla was the first to greet her husband as he departed the Anfield turf for the final time, just inside the mouth of the tunnel, as they embark on a new life together.
And we can only wish them every best wish in the world.
