"We deserved not more than a draw" - Jurgen Klopp

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said that his side didn't deserve more than a draw after being forced into an FA Cup Third round replay following their 2-2 draw with Wolves.

The 55-year-old German was speaking to the media after goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah weren't enough for Liverpool, as Goncalo Guedes and Hwang-Hee Chan scored for Julen Lopetegui's side, who also had a goal ruled out by VAR.

"We deserved not more than a draw tonight and whatever the consequences are, in this case it's now an extra game, so that's fine."

AN EXTRA GAME FOR REDS WITH KLOPP AGAINST REPLAYS

Klopp will be upset that his side now have an extra game to play, with the replay at Molineux set to be played the week commencing 16th January. In the build up to the game, the Liverpool boss reiterated his desire of scrapping FA Cup replays, despite them being reintroduced ahead of this season, to help with fixture congestion and to help clubs lower down in the football period financially.

"Yes, I was always.

"Nobody wants to kill the smaller clubs; they have exactly the same right for existence as all of us.

"The lifelines for small clubs cannot be massive problems for clubs who play every three days."

THE FOURTH ROUND DRAW

Despite the result last night, Reds fans will find out their potential FA Cup Round 4 opponents later on this evening with the draw being made at around 4:05pm on BBC One ahead of the tie between Manchester City and Chelsea which kicks off at 4:30pm. The Reds are ball number 18 in the draw.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Jurgen Klopp often gets criticism from opposition fans when he speaks about certain issues regarding English football and he has long been an advocate for reducing the fixture calendar - including permanently scrapping FA Cup replays.

With the replay happening the week commencing 16th January, Liverpool will now have to contend with going to Molineux, as well as deal with their next two Premier League games, with the Reds facing Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton side next weekend then returning to Anfield to play host to Graham Potter's Chelsea.

The last thing Klopp needs is to play an FA Cup Third Round replay - with the 14th of January being the first of three games played in the space of a week for Liverpool.
