Jurgen Klopp tipped as 'incredible' Barcelona hire by his ex-player

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has tipped Jurgen Klopp to be an 'incredible' hire for Barcelona. The striker worked under Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp will certainly be in high demand over the next few years. The German will step down from Liverpool at the end of the season, meaning one of the world's greatest and most successful managers will be available.

Of course, Klopp may not make himself available. He's planning on at least a year out of the game and it's highly unlikely that a club tempts him out of that idea. Then again, he cut a similar plan short to sign with Liverpool in 2015.

Klopp stepped down from Borussia Dortmund earlier that year after a difficult season that left him needing a break. His star striker that year was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the Gambian has been talking about his former boss.

He views him as an 'incredible' option for Barcelona, another former club of his. The job in Catalonia will also be up for grabs this year when Xavi steps down himself.

"Klopp gives you everything - energy, he has won major titles, and he is a fine coach," Aubameyang told JijantesFC. "If there is a chance for Barça he is a good option. "I was very comfortable with him in Dortmund. It would be incredible if could come [to Barcelona]."

Now, Klopp will certainly be on Barcelona's list but the timing here is likely wrong. The job has come up a year too early, if anything, given his determination to remain out of the game for a year.

At the very least, Klopp isn't taking over a club in the summer when Barcelona are hiring. It means this is one for down the line, rather than for the 2024/25 season.

So perhaps Aubameyang gets his wish one day but for now, Barca fans can merely daydream about it.
