Jurgen Klopp talks about his future as Liverpool's manager

Jurgen Klopp has addressed his comments before the Norwich game on Wednesday where he discussed his contract situation at Liverpool.

Klopp's current contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the 2024 season, meaning the German could only be in charge for another two seasons.

The Liverpool manager is always asked about extending his contract at the club but he usually gives nothing away.

However, before the fifth round of the FA Cup against Norwich, the German let a little more slip than he usually would.

Speaking to ITV, as cited by This is Anfield, Klopp seemed less dismissive about the idea of extending than he usually is.

“I don’t know. I really don’t know,” Klopp said.

“Our owners understood that things would take time, we needed time obviously.

“They are interested in development as well, not just in delivering immediately, and that’s pretty helpful.”

Despite making these comments, Klopp addressed the rumours about him staying longer than 2024 in his pre-West Ham press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch.

“The plan is still the same. Nothing has changed and if I decide to leave in 2024, it’ll be nothing to do with the quality of the squad," said Klopp.

"All we do is for the long term. This club must be even better when I am not here anymore.

"That's what we are working on so it's not important how long I will stay, it's much more important how we do until then."

Anfield Watch Verdict

There probably isn't one Liverpool who doesn't want Klopp to extend his stay at Anfield past 2024.

If he does leave when his contract ends then it will be extremely hard to replace the German manager.

Jurgen has spoken multiple times about taking a break from football when he leaves Liverpool. However, if he doesn't leave Liverpool for another 10 years then that break may be a little delayed!
