Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has taken aim at referees for not protecting Reds winger Sadio Mane.

The German is under the impression that the Senegal international is constantly being fouled without receiving free-kicks.

With that being the case, Klopp further added that he is "sick" of the referees not protecting Mane.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the 54-year-old told the club's official website the following after his side defeated Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium (Premier League) last night: "I am sick of the treatment for Sadio Mane. Maybe someone can explain to me why he doesn't get free-kicks. He is not a diver, I know him better than anyone. He is not! "Lack of protection? Whatever you want to make of it. I am sick of it, that's why I was a bit angry."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We can see where Klopp is coming from. There have been times this season when Mane has been fouled and a free-kick has not been given.

Now that Klopp has said something, hopefully the winger is given a bit more protection. On another note, Mane is having a decent 2021-22 campaign for Liverpool.

The 29-year-old has scored 14 goals and registered two assists in 36 appearances for the Reds this season.

Mane has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.23 across the campaign.

Liverpool are competing for the Premier League title, Champions League and FA Cup this season.

If the Reds are to claim one or more of the aforementioned trophies, Mane will need to continue chipping in.

We wish the Senegal international and the team all the best for the remainder of the season. Everyone associated with the club is certainly behind Klopp's side.
