Jurgen Klopp gives encouraging covid update
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that a number of false positives have been recorded in the Reds' squad in terms of covid, and so that is why last week's Arsenal game was cancelled and a number of players missed the match with Shrewsbury Town.
A very shaken-up side took to the field against the Shrews on Sunday afternoon as Liverpool eventually won 4-1 winners with a number of youngsters in the line-up.
Indeed, that came about after a number of positive covid cases were recorded in the LFC squad, but Klopp has since revealed promisingly enough that most of those were actually false positives.
He said post-match:
"We thought we had a proper outbreak last week and it showed up we had a lot of false positives actually, but the rules are like they are. The false positives couldn't play today."

Overall, this is promising news.
It's not ideal that the Arsenal game was postponed and that the Shrewsbury match had a depleted side named, of course, but this should mean at least that the squad is going to be avoiding illness at an already tricky time.
Hopefully, we'll be back near full strength sooner rather than later with two legs against Arsenal still to play, the FA Cup 4th round tie against Cardiff at the start of February, Premier League fixtures and the resumption of the Champions League all on the near-future agenda.
A busy time, then, and hopefully one that can set us up for a successful few months of the campaign.
