Jurgen Klopp responds to Pep Guardiola's 'everyone supports Liverpool' comments

Jurgen Klopp has hit back at Pep Guardiola's comments about everyone in England supporting Liverpool.

Speaking in his pre-Aston Villa press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp responded to Guardiola saying that 'everyone in this country supports Liverpool.'

"A lot of people want us to win the league here yes, but the other 50% of people are involved in another fight, or at least until yesterday. After a game, we are massively influenced by games and situations," said Klopp.

"I have no idea if the whole country is supporting us. Maybe he knows more than me. It doesn't feel like that! But maybe he knows more than me.

"What I said after the Spurs game - I wouldn't [say it now]. That was just my feeling at the moment. After City were knocked out by Madrid, that was obviously difficult to take."

Anfield Watch Verdict

The comments from Pep after they thrashed Newcastle United 5-0 seemed very random and uncalled for, like the majority of his digs at Liverpool.

Klopp has handled them pretty well as he could've easily dismissed Pep's claims. If he was on Twitter he would see that 'everyone' definitely doesn't want Liverpool to win the quadruple.

The only reason Arsenal fans wanted us to win against Spurs was that it handed them a massive advantage in the top four race.

Apart from that, Chelsea fans hate us, Manchester United fans hate us, Spurs fans hate us and just about every other club in the Premier League hates us.

If we were to win the quadruple this season, all of those fanbases would have to admit that their best teams' achievements have been overshadowed by Klopp's side.

Maybe Pep just wants some sympathy as everyone can see that without unlimited money his career wouldn't come close to Klopp's achievements as a manager.
