Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Reds forward Roberto Firmino.

The 54-year-old said that the Brazil international suffered a muscle injury during the club's last-16 first leg Champions League clash against Inter Milan at the San Siro last week.

With that being the case, Firmino missed Liverpool's Premier League fixture against Norwich City at Anfield on Saturday.

As quoted by The Athletic, Klopp said the following: “With Bobby (Firmino), we didn’t even know that he had something until he felt it only after the game (in midweek).

“We all thought it is a little thing, but it’s a muscle injury and we have to see how long it will take. I don’t know at the moment, but for sure not for the next game, so we have to see.”

The German added: “Bobby Firmino has a muscle problem and is out for a while, so we have to keep the boys fit and create a spirit like the boys did today in the game (against Norwich City).”

Liverpool defeated the Canaries 3-1.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Firmino from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of €41 million back in the summer of 2015.

The 30-year-old has been a very good player for the Reds. Firmino has scored 95 goals and registered 73 assists in 316 appearances for the club's first-team.

Firmino has won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title with Liverpool.

Therefore, it is a shame to hear that a legend of the club has suffered an injury. Firmino has also been in decent form this season.

The striker has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.91 across all competitions.

With that being the case, we look forward to seeing Firmino fit and firing again.
