Jurgen Klopp provides an update on Mohamed Salah's contract

In his most recent press conference, Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Mohamed Salah's contract situation.

Mo Salah's contract talks have been in limbo for a long time now but at the weekend, reports started to emerge about the Egyptian having a change of heart.

When asked if there were any updates on the contract talks in his most recent press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp said that the main parties are still in discussions with each other.

"The decisive parties are talking to each other and that is all I need. There is nothing new to add."

Klopp isn't going to talk about Salah's contract but it was a good try by the journalist who asked!

The last time the German mentioned Mo's contract, Salah's agent responded and it caused massive controversy among the fanbase.

Hopefully this time the Egyptian's agent doesn't try and throw any shade towards Klopp. With Salah's form below his usual standards, more unnecessary discussions about his contract aren't going to help anyone, especially Mo.

The past few months have been very rough for the Egyptian. He has captained his national team twice against Senegal in the AFCON final and the World Cup Qualifiers, losing both.

There has even been talk about Salah considering retirement but nothing has been confirmed yet.

From a Liverpool point of view, we're all just hoping that he puts these defeats behind him so he can focus on trying to win a historic quadruple with the Reds.

Klopp did mention the Egyptians form in his press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, saying that it's nothing to worry about.

"For me, the performance level is important, how he brings players together. It's a tough period for Mo and Sadio, coming back from international duty and being available again. We see him every day - there is nothing to worry about.

"They won't come to me and ask for a break, so I have to give them a break."
