Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The England international suffered a hamstring injury against Newcastle United at Anfield last night.

As a result, Henderson was replaced by James Milner 71 minutes into the clash.

Klopp said the following about the 32-year-old's injury post-game.

"Obviously Hendo is injured, he got a hamstring (injury), which is absolutely not helpful. I don't think so," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

Klopp added: "(It was) that serious that he couldn't carry on, so it was no tactical change."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Henderson from Sunderland for a transfer fee of £16.20 million back in the summer of 2011.

Since then, the midfielder has scored 33 goals and registered 55 assists in 455 appearances for the club's first-team.

The 32-year-old has also won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup (x2), FA Cup and Community Shield with the Reds.

In other words, Henderson has been a terrific player for Liverpool. But, the club captain has picked up a number of injuries in recent times.

With that being the case, we would not be surprised if Henderson became more of a squad player in the near future.

Therefore, he might be forced to give up the captaincy. On another note, we wish Henderson a speedy recovery.

We never want to see any Liverpool player sitting on the sidelines due to an injury.
