Jurgen Klopp provides an injury update on Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones picked up an injury in the Norwich game yesterday and Jurgen Klopp has given an update on his situation.

The midfielder has had a tough time getting into the Liverpool side recently. That's mainly due to the fact that the Reds don't currently have many injuries.

The young Scouser got his chance to impress against Norwich in the FA Cup fifth round and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

During the first half, the 21-year-old was involved in everything, a performance reminiscent of his Liverpool teammate Thiago Alcantara.

Unfortunately, just before half-time, Jones pointed towards his thigh and indicated there was some discomfort.

When Jurgen Klopp's side came out after the break, Jones was not with them and Harvey Elliott was preparing to come on.

Speaking after the game, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Liverpool manager confirmed that his withdrawal was just a precaution.

"We took Curtis off because he felt the thigh slightly, it is not serious," said Klopp. "We didn't need to take a risk so that's why we brought on Harvey."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Jones has seemed to have fallen into the shadows a little bit. However, his performance against Norwich showcased what the Scouser can offer Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side.

Even though he only played 45 minutes, the 21-year-old hit the woodwork, had 92% pass accuracy and made one key pass.

The fact that he has been out of the squad for a while, this was a pretty good return. Luckily his injury isn't too bad so he will still be available for selection if needed.

Speaking after the game to BBC, as cited by Anfield Watch, Klopp also seemed impressed with the 21-year-olds performance.

"Curtis Jones was incredible in the first half," said Klopp.

Hopefully, this is just the start of Jones' resurgence into the Liverpool side and we can start seeing more impressive performances from him similar to yesterday.
