Jurgen Klopp praised Sheffield United goalkeeper Wes Foderingham's 'incredible save' during Wednesday night's clash.

Liverpool ultimately ran out 2-0 winners at Bramall Lane but were made to work for the three points and often struggled to find a rhythm against the Premier League's bottom club.

Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring for the visitors from a corner on the 37th minute, while Dominik Szoboszlai added the second late into stoppage time.

While there were some nervy moments for the Reds, they might have doubled their lead earlier had Foderingham not produced a stand-out save to deny Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian appeared destined to score his 200th Liverpool goal on 56 minutes as he connected with a close-range volley from a corner. However, the Blades goalkeeper showed impressive reflexes to make a one-handed stop and keep the score at 1-0.

Speaking after the game, Klopp commented on the moment, saying: "Look, it would be extremely cool if we could have scored the second goal earlier! It was possible, I think Mo had after a corner where it was an incredible save from the goalie, I have no clue how he kept that out of the goal, and other moments where we could have played better. That would have been great.

"Besides that, we just tried to create without opening up too much. We had flexible movements."

Foderingham made a total of six saves on the night, as he worked to keep Chris Wilder's side in the contest.

The former Rangers and Swindon keeper leads the Premier League for most stops this season with 73.

As a result of Foderingham's display, Salah will have to wait to secure his landmark 200th goal for Liverpool – and 150th in the Premier League.

The Egyptian has ten strikes in the league so far this season, but hasn't scored domestically since the Reds' 3-0 victory over Brentford back on 12 November.

He will get his next chance when Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace this weekend for Saturday's early kick-off.
