Jurgen Klopp says he's too 'dumb' to prioritise in Liverpool quadruple chase

Jurgen Klopp has insisted Liverpool are simply taking each game at a time as they approach a key point in the 2023/24 season, with an unprecedented quadruple still possible.

The Reds lifted the Carabao Cup last month with a 1-0 extra-time victory over Chelsea, the first of four trophies available in Klopp's final campaign.

With less than three months remaining this season, the games get ever more critical for Liverpool, with key fixtures against Manchester City in the Premier League and Manchester United in the FA Cup as well as the Europa League last 16 legs vs Sparta Prague coming up in the next two weeks.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Prague, Klopp promised he and his side will not get distracted with what's on the horizon, joking that he is simply too 'dumb' to prioritise one competition over another.

The manager said: “As far as I know it is the only game we play tomorrow night so that’s the most important game we have. We don’t make any difference.

“We would not have won the League Cup, we would not be in the next round of the FA Cup, we would not still be in the Europa League if we would prioritise a competition.

“We never did – maybe it would be smart if we do it, but I am a bit dumb so I don’t know how to do that, and we go in each game with all we have and hopefully you will see that tomorrow night. That’s the target.”

Key period for quadruple hopes

Liverpool take on Sparta Prague at the epet Arena at 17:45 GMT on Thursday, with the second leg at Anfield a week later.

In between those clashes, Klopp's Reds face a showdown with title rivals City at Anfield on Sunday, 10 March.

A week later, Liverpool travel to United for the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford, in what will be the last game before the March international break.

While Klopp may not be not prioritising any of the competitions, a recent Anfield Watch poll revealed that of the three cups at least, fans actually rank the Europa League highest.
