Jurgen Klopp singled out Jarrod Bowen for special praise after Liverpool's convincing 5-1 win against West Ham United in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.

Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and a brace from Curtis Jones spearheaded the Reds to a statement win, while Bowen's second-half strike proved to be a mere consolation for the Hammers. Speaking after the game, Klopp lavished praise on Bowen's development in recent years, referring to him as one of his 'favourite' players in the Premier League.

He said (quotes from Sky Sports via Daily Mail): “In quarter-finals, everybody can smell the chance to go through. In a very busy period, finding a line-up that can go and go and go because West Ham is a physically really strong team,

“David [Moyes] is doing an incredible job, I have to say. They are good again, through in Europe, it’s really impressive. Injuries issues as well. Playing without [Michail] Antonio, and Bowen steps up in that position – probably my favourite player besides my players – it’s just great what he’s doing and how he develops.”

Bowen has predominantly played as a centre forward this season and has notched up an impressive tally of 12 goals across 22 appearances in all competitions. The 27-year-old also has five international caps for England and is a candidate to be named in Gareth Southgate's squad for the European Championships in Germany next year.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Bowen earlier this season, with one report suggesting that the Reds are keeping tabs on the Englishman as a potential successor for Mohamed Salah, who continues to be linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. However, the 27-year-old recently signed a new long-term deal with the Hammers until 2030, pouring cold water over claims that he could be on the move in the near future.
