Jurgen Klopp hails 'complete package' Diogo Jota after impressive recent displays

Jurgen Klopp has hailed the impact of "complete package" Diogo Jota, who continues to shine despite the "crazy" amount of knocks he gets during matches.

Diogo Jota had been sidelined for around a month earlier this season after picking up an injury in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City back in November, but has quickly found his feet again after returning to the team on Boxing Day.

The Portuguese netted just minutes after coming on against Burnley in his first game back and has added another four goals and three assists since the trip to Turf Moor.

Most recently, Jota netted the opener in Liverpool's 4-1 win against Chelsea on Wednesday, powering through two centre-backs before producing a composed finish from close range.

Another impressive display midweek, Klopp was quick to praise the 27-year-old in his pre-match press conference before the Arsenal game, labelling him the "complete package" despite his rough treatment from opposition defenders.

"He just has it. He’s a complete package," said the German. "With, and he knows that, everyone [knows] that, with a few injuries at the wrong time – a few too many as well, like unlucky, wow.

"Diogo gets, in each game, knocks like crazy. If I go through the lists of medical reports I got over the years since Diogo is here, he’s in each and every one of them.

"And not as ‘injured’, just as ‘has a bruise’, ‘has a knock’, ‘has that’, ‘has that’. All after each game. So he really gets it. And on top of that, a couple of times he was out for absolutely too long, otherwise his numbers would look completely different.

Klopp added: "He was in a really good shape before he got injured, came back, was in a good shape.

"You can see he is literally flying in the moment, everything looks light, looks fresh, looks explosive, and on top of that, as he always was, an extremely smart footballer."

Jota will be hoping to continue his two-game goalscoring streak against Arsenal on Sunday, one of his favourite opponents. The sharpshooter has netted eight goals in 14 appearances against the Gunners, only having scored more against Leicester City (nine in 13 matches).

With Mohamed Salah out injured and Darwin Nunez an injury doubt for the trip to north London, even more goalscoring burden will fall on Jota's shoulders.
