Jurgen Klopp gives massive update on post-Liverpool future

Jurgen Klopp has revealed he doesn't currently have plans to continue as a football manager after leaving Liverpool.

The 56-year-old stunned the footballing world with his announcement back in January that he would be stepping down from his role at Anfield at the end of the season.

Klopp cited the fact that he is 'running out of energy' as a primary reason for his decision, while he has expressed a desire to spend more time with his wife and family.

While speculation is rife as to how Liverpool will look in a post-Klopp world after over eight-and-half years under the German, there are also hanging questions as to what's next career-wise for the legendary manager.

In the press conference that followed his announcement at the start of the year, Klopp set out his plans to take a one-year sabbatical from coaching, while he also vowed never to manage another English club.

He told reporters: "If you ask me, 'Will you ever work as a manager again?' I would say now no. But I don't know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation.

"What I know definitely – I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool."

There have been rumours that the likes of Bayern Munich and the German national team will wait for Klopp after his self-imposed break and he is likely to remain a coveted name for many years.

Not in this moment

However, speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Europa League clash with Atalanta, Klopp doubled down on his previous claim, insisting he doesn't plan on taking another coaching job.

He said: "In this moment, I don't plan a further career as a manager. Maybe ask me in a year, but not in this moment."

While Klopp's words have been clear, not everyone is taking him at face value.

Back in March, Manchester City manager and long-time rival Pep Guardiola said of the departing Reds' manager's situation: "He will be back! He loves the job too much. What can I say?"

As it stands, there are just nine games left of Klopp's reign at Liverpool, though that could increase to 12 if they make it to the Europa League final this May.
