Jurgen Klopp gives his honest opinion on Harvey Elliott's return

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott made his return from injury against Cardiff City at Anfield yesterday.

The 19-year-old had not played a competitive game of football since breaking his ankle against Leeds United at Elland Road back in September.

Therefore, everyone associated with the club was excited to see Elliott back out on the pitch as a second-half substitute against the Bluebirds yesterday. The Englishman actually found the back of the net during the aforementioned fourth round FA Cup clash.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was delighted for the midfielder come the end of the match.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the German told the BBC the following: "Scoring a goal in front of the Kop - a fairytale. The 12pm kick-off is maybe not the most emotional but when he came on it felt like 8pm on a European night with floodlights. The crowd were there and celebrated it, it was nice.

"It was bad start at Leeds and from that moment he was in a better place than the rest of us. We were all shocked but he is a special kid, it took a while and the medical team did an incredible job and he was patient enough to to do the necessary things."

Liverpool defeated Cardiff City 3-1.

When Elliott broke his ankle back in September, we weren't sure if we were going to see him play again this season. The injury looked horrific at the time. But, the man has proven us wrong.

Elliott's 32-minute performance against Cardiff City was solid. Footage of the midfielder highlights that he was explosive on his return.

We look forward to seeing the youngster play some consistent senior football. By doing so, he will get back to his best.
