Speaking ahead of the Liverpool vs Brighton game, Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Mohamed Salah's contract situation.

Liverpool fans are desperate for Mo Salah to be given a new contract ahead of his current one expiring in 2023.

There have yet to be any major breakthroughs but Klopp has now publicly spoken about it in his pre-Brighton press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch.

"Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious," said Klopp.

"We have been and we are. Does the signing of Luis Diaz help? I don't think it's about that. It is Mo's decision. The club did what it can do. It is all fine.

"Nothing further has happened, Mo hasn't signed or rejected or whatever, we just have to wait. It is all completely fine. There is no rush."

Anfield Watch Verdict

This is more of the same from the club, silence. It seems like Liverpool don't want to reveal their hand too soon.

It's no secret that Liverpool fans and Klopp are desperate for the Egyptian to sign but neither party has the final say on whether he does or not.

Reports from late last year stated that Salah wanted reassurances that the club would sign top-class players to play alongside the Egyptian during his final contract with the Reds, if he was to sign.

However, Klopp has addressed that rumour today and he thinks that the signing of Diaz has nothing to nothing to do with keeping Mo happy.

It's very unlikely that Jurgen is going to reveal anything about Salah's contract publicly, so it looks like we're just going to have to wait until the official announcement, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later.
