Jurgen Klopp feels Liverpool have pulled off 'extraordinary' feat

Jurgen Klopp feels his Liverpool side have done something 'extraordinary' already this season. The Reds are fighting on four fronts.

Absolutely no one predicted Liverpool's season last summer. The Reds were undergoing a bit of a transitional period, for one, as they overhauled their midfield.

Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and James Milner all left. All four have been key players over the most successful period at Anfield since the 1980s.

Essentially, no one thought Liverpool would challenge for all that much. They were quite awful at times in the previous campaign and the change at the club wasn't supposed to transform things.

Certainly, if you'd told people that there would be injuries to Joel Matip, Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic, Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota (twice), Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, and anyone else we're forgetting, there would be zero suggestion that this could be a positive season.

And yet, Liverpool are competing on four fronts. They're top of the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup final, and amongst the favourites to win both the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

It's something Jurgen Klopp believes is extraordinary.

“We will see what is possible, but the base we created so far — come on, 60 points is an extraordinary amount of points with all the things that have gone on," he said this week, per The Times.

And it truly is. Liverpool have caught everyone off guard with their campaign - even Klopp.

In fact, that's one of the reasons he's leaving at the end of the season. This squad is far better than he imagined it to be by this point - they've developed a lot faster than planned.

And it could result in an unlikely but spectacular end to the season. Liverpool will attempt to claim trophy no.1 on Sunday, albeit with a depleted squad, and are then positioned to compete for three more over the coming months.

If they pull that all off, 'extraordinary' would be an understatement.
