Jurgen Klopp extends Liverpool contract until 2026
Jurgen Klopp has reportedly signed a new contract with Liverpool that will keep him at Anfield until 2026.
The Athletic reporter, David Ornstein, has revealed that Jurgen Klopp has put pen to paper today and signed a new deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2026.
The Liverpool manager's previous contract kept him on Merseyside until 2024 but it is believed that the German and his staff, which include Pep Lijnders, Peter Krawietz and John Achterberg, have all prolonged their deals too.
It was thought that Klopp would take a 'sabbatical' after his contract with Liverpool ended, however, the German has been re-energised by his side's chase for the quadruple this season, as reported by The Athletic.
Anfield Watch Verdict
What a day to be a Liverpool fan. Klopp is a messiah on Merseyside and him signing this contract makes the future of LFC shine even brighter.
Four more years means that Jurgen will oversee the next generation of the club, something he has already started himself by bringing in the likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Ibrahima Konate.
The club, fans, players, staff and owners all seem to be on the same level. There is no one else more suited to Liverpool than Klopp.
Klopp and Liverpool are the perfect match. He's the modern-day Bill Shankly and when he eventually does retire from football, hopefully not for many years, a statue will be soon to follow.
Once Klopp reaches the end of his new contract, in 2026, it means that he will have been Liverpool's manager for over 10 years, something only three other managers have achieved at Liverpool. George Kay, Bill Shankley and Tom Watson.
Hopefully, the owners will now back Klopp to the best of their ability so we can continue the German's unbelievable legacy at Liverpool.
