Jurgen Klopp delivers TRIPLE injury blow as attacking options threaten to dwindle
Liverpool conceded a 120th-minute winner at Old Trafford this afternoon as Manchester United ended Jurgen Klopp's hopes of a farewell quadruple. Could it get any worse?
It turns out, yes. Yes it could get worse. Much worse.
Klopp has dropped a triple injury update on a trio of his star attackers, revealing all three as to having picked up a potential issue in the defeat to United.
Those three players are Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, who would all be expected to feature for their countries during the upcoming international break.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Klopp said: "Now the boys go onto international duty and they have to recover. We hope they all come back healthy.
"We have some problems. Lucho [Diaz] felt his groin, Darwin [Nunez] hamstring, hopefully not bad, and Cody [Gakpo] twisted his ankle I think, so we will see.
"I don't know exactly when they play their first games, probably in four or five days. It's a crazy schedule and let's hope they can get through that - and then the season starts.
"The more of the boys we have available, the bigger our chances are to finish the season in style."
Klopp did highlight one positive of the game - that being the fact Liverpool's premature FA Cup exit means it'll be one or two games less in their hectic end-of-season schedule.
“Obviously we had a much more intense season so far, I think everybody knows that,” Klopp added.
“You just have to count the games. Today was hard, it was hard.
“Congratulations to United for going to the semi-final. We have a game less, or two games less, now we try to use that in the next few weeks.”
