Jurgen Klopp gives Alisson Becker fitness update

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alisson Becker is back in training for Liverpool ahead of the first leg of our EFL Cup semi-final with Arsenal.

The Reds take on the Gunners at Anfield on Thursday night as our rearranged clash with the men from north London finally goes ahead.

It's been well-documented as to why the game last week did not happen but hopefully there will be no such issues this time around as the Reds welcome Arsenal to L4.

Jurgen Klopp has been back conducting his pre-match press conference duties, too, with him revealing that Alisson is back in training and hopefully in contention to feature tomorrow night.

Caoimhin Kelleher has obviously done a fine job once more in deputising for Alisson but the Brazilian is naturally a step above in quality at the moment and it would make sense for him to feature tomorrow night if possible.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Alisson has been missing thanks to covid but is now back available for selection and you could see him featuring tomorrow night.

Kelleher has been our cup 'keeper and was the penalty shootout hero last round against Leicester City but you have to wonder whether Klopp will pull rank with his goalkeepers now.

A semi-final is a big opportunity for Liverpool to get to another final and our strongest side needs to be named - though we're sure Kelleher would do a good job if he is kept in the side.
