Jurgen Klopp reacts to 'unbelievable' Darwin Nunez goal

Jurgen Klopp had plenty of praise for Darwin Nunez after the Uruguayan scored a fantastic goal in Liverpool's win over Bournemouth. The boss didn't like one question about it, though.

Darwin Nunez stepped off the bench on Wednesday evening to get Liverpool over the line against Bournemouth with a brilliant goal. This was an incredibly difficult game, as it turned out, with Storm Ciaran causing chaos for both teams.

The wind and the rain were each extraordinary, leaving players second-guessing themselves throughout the game. Bournemouth's equaliser was a true capitalisation of that - any ball into the box was going to make life difficult.

What the game really needed, then, was for someone to show up and produce undeniable quality. Nunez provided just that, coming on as a second-half sub to win the game.

Trent Alexander-Arnold fired a long ball up the pitch for the striker, who completely miscontrolled it with his first touch. That led to jeers from the home crowd - but they were quickly silenced.

Nunez got the ball back, stood his defender up and then smashed a brilliant, dipping strike over the goalkeeper from 20 yards. It was unstoppable.

Understandably, Jurgen Klopp loved what he saw.

"Darwin shows his class and puts the game pretty much to bed for us," said Klopp in his post-match press conference. "It's an unbelievable goal. There were much bigger chances in the whole game - five, six or seven - but that was the goal we needed."

But one journalist suggested Darwin had 'used the wind' to make it happen - that was the last question of the press conference, in fact. Klopp didn't take kindly to that suggestion, snapping back at the journalist a little.

"If you can do that, that's really good!" he joked. "That would be outstanding. You'd have to ask him, I didn't - I just enjoyed the goal."

Whether he used the wind or not (he didn't), Nunez produced another moment of absolute magic to send Liverpool into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
