Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could make three changes to the starting lineup for tomorrow's Champions League semi-final first leg clash against Villarreal at Anfield, according to The Athletic, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

Ibrahima Konate, Jordan Henderson and Luis Diaz are all in contention to start against the Spanish side. The aforementioned players were all benched for last weekend's Premier League clash against Everton at Anfield.

Liverpool versus Villarreal will kick-off at 08:00pm.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool possess plenty of squad depth. Therefore, it is brilliant that Klopp can rest quality players like Konate, Henderson and Diaz for a Merseyside derby and still come away with a 2-0 victory.

The German has recently conceded that without strength in depth, the Reds can't compete for every major honour in the game.

“The boys have now really proper quality in depth, but we cannot play all competitions and go far in the competitions if we don’t have this depth, there is no chance,” the German said during a press conference back in March, as quoted by The Liverpool Offside.

“You can do it for a year when you are lucky with injuries, but I think we had years where Bobby (Roberto Firmino), Sadio (Mane) and Mohamed (Salah) played pretty much all the games, if I am right. Sometimes they came from the bench, but the next game they started again.”

Due to the quality of numbers that Klopp has at his disposal, we don't expect to see Liverpool fade away anytime soon.

The average age of the squad is 27. The Reds are in a really strong position from a numbers/experience point of view to go on and be competitive for a number of years.

But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
