Liverpool have been dealt a massive blow after Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Fabinho will miss the FA Cup final on Saturday against Chelsea.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp confirmed our worst fears about Fabinho's injury.

“There's a good chance that he will be back whenever – not for the weekend but whenever.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Fabinho is going to be a massive loss to Liverpool ahead of Saturday's game. He has been vital for keeping our midfield stable this season.

The Brazilian has played 45 games for the Reds in all competitions this campaign, showing how much Klopp values the 28-year-old at the base of his midfield.

Despite missing the FA Cup final, Klopp seems to indicate that Fab could be back sooner than expected. Most fans will be hoping that he is fit enough to feature in the last game of the season, which will be the Champions League final against Real Madrid, his former club.

That is probably the goal for Fabinho currently. Jordan Henderson can fill in against Chelsea, Southampton and Wolves, but if the Brazilian was to miss the UCL final then it's going to be a massive loss.

However, Liverpool aren't the only side going into the FA Cup final without a crucial player. Thomas Tuchel confirmed that they would need a 'miracle' for Mateo Kovacic to start against the Reds on Saturday.

Kovacic went off injured after a horror challenge from Dan James in their 3-0 win against Leeds United on Wednesday.

Speaking after the game, as cited by Blue_Footy, Tuchel said that they'll have to see about the Croatian's fitness ahead of the final.

"If Mateo (Kovacic) misses it (FA Cup final) I am very disappointed because he was a clear starter. You saw the quality with Jorgi and him in midfield when it was eleven against eleven. We will see. Maybe we have a miracle."
