Jurgen Klopp confirms first-team player is available for Inter Milan clash
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson is available for tonight's last-16 first leg Champions League clash against Inter Milan, which is taking place at the San Siro.
The German said that the Englishman recently suffered a knock to his knee. However, Klopp made it clear that Henderson has recovered.
As quoted by Carl Markham on Twitter, the 54-year-old said the following during his recent press conference: "Hendo is fine, he got a knock on his knee. Second day recovery today so not the longest session for him. You can see the wound on his knee - it looks like lips and should not be there. But apart from that no issue."
Anfield Watch Verdict
We are delighted to hear that Henderson is available for tonight's important Champions League clash. The midfielder is the captain of the club, which provides an insight into how pivotal he is to the club.
Former Red Steven Gerrard has highlighted in the past why Henderson is key cog in Klopp's side.
As quoted by Planet Football, the Scouser said the following: “When you play alongside him you appreciate the job he does for the team and I think over the years he’s been developing parts of his game. His passing range now is fantastic.
“He’s always there for the team. I’ve watched him grow as a human being with interest – he’s always been a great lad and a great team-mate."
Henderson's overall Liverpool career has been solid. The Englishman joined the Reds from Sunderland for a transfer fee of €18 million back in July 2011.
Since then, Henderson has scored 33 goals and registered 55 assists in 423 appearances for the club's first-team.
The midfielder has also led Liverpool to four major trophies. Henderson recently renewed his contract with the club.
The 31-year-old's current deal expires in the summer of 2025. Therefore, it would be fair to assume that Henderson is a fair chance of finishing his career with Liverpool.
