Jurgen Klopp closing in on Liverpool touchline return

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could make his touchline return as early as this Sunday as he comes to the end of his isolation period.

The German tested positive for covid at the end of last week and that ruled him out of the visit to Chelsea last weekend, with several players picking up the virus in the days before and since then.

However, the game against Shrewsbury Town this weekend is still expected to go ahead, and Jurgen Klopp is being tipped to be back on the touchline if that is the case with his isolation period coming to an end over the weekend.

The Liverpool Echo revealed that the German will return on Sunday with the game due to be going ahead.

Anfield Watch Verdict

It'll be good to see the Reds in action after what has been a pretty up and down week - it just remains to be seen which of the players, both senior and youth, are picked for this clash.

Shrewsbury Town will be eager to try and cause a cup upset if they can at Anfield and those that are picked will be expected to represent the club and the crest to the highest of standards, regardless of who plays.

Klopp will be on the touchline reminding them of their duties, too, and that is a positive whilst it is also the first nod to the fact that the Reds are hopefully beginning to come out of the other side of this covid breakout that has dogged them for the last week or so.
