Jurgen Klopp clarifies comments on Anfield atmosphere ahead of Arsenal clash

Jurgen Klopp has brushed aside claims that he was critical of Anfield's atmosphere during the Manchester United game, adding that he loves the stadium to bits.

The Liverpool manager said earlier this week that the atmosphere during the 0-0 draw against Manchester United was the worst he had ever experienced for a clash against the Red Devils, sparking a string of heated debates from fans and pundits.

However, speaking at a press conference ahead of Arsenal's visit, the German tactician clarified his comments, affirming that he has enjoyed '99.7% of each second' at the iconic stadium. He said (quotes via Paul Gorst): "Maybe I have to...I can tell our people, I don't order atmospheres, we had 2 home games in a row and 62 [shots]. Imagine if we'd have scored [more]. It's my feeling directly after the game. I turned around and missed a chance and people were flat."

"We are in a pretty good position, maybe quicker than some expected, I don't know. If we have a chance and we miss it is it (deflating). It's no criticism, I enjoyed 99.7% of each second in this stadium. I love it to bits. I said give your ticket to someone else but people tell me it's not that easy! I didn't mean it [literally]. I cannot change that not, I said we need Anfield that is 100% true and I can't wait for the first whistle."

Klopp's rallying cry to the home fans is likely to spice up the atmosphere on Saturday as the table-toppers arrive at Anfield aiming to secure their first Premier League victory at the venue since September 2012. Liverpool are just a point behind the Gunners and can lay down the marker for the rest of the campaign with a win, while Mikel Arteta's side could go four points clear of the Reds if they secure all three points.
