Jurgen Klopp answers whether Manchester City need a striker

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given his opinion on whether Manchester City need a striker.

The Citizens don't possess an out-and-out forward in their squad. The likes of Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling help make up Manchester City's forward line.

Crystal Palace kept the Citizens to a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park in the Premier League earlier this week. Despite that being the case, Klopp is adamant that Pep Guardiola's side do not lack a genuine No.9.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the German said the following during his most recent press conference: "Talking about City as if they would miss a striker? That's a joke! Against Crystal Palace they had like five or six clear-cut chances."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Klopp's take. The reality is, Manchester City have scored 68 goals in 29 Premier League matches this season.

Naturally, there are going to be days when the Citizens can't find the back of the net. That is football.

The reason why we thought that we would touch on this particular topic is because Liverpool have to play the league leaders (Manchester City) at the Etihad in early April.

With the Reds only one point behind the Citizens, it is a huge game.

If Liverpool are not switched on, Manchester City will carve them open. Despite the fact Guardiola does not possess an out-and-out forward, they know how to find the back of the net.

Klopp's back five (Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson) will have their work cut out when the fixture comes around.

But, the aforementioned players are top-class and experienced, so we will back them against one of the best teams/forward lines in the world.
