Liverpool will return from the international break with a bang, facing Everton in the early kick-off on Saturday, 21 October for the first Merseyside derby of the season.

The Reds are still looking for their next Premier League win after the highly controversial defeat at Tottenham at the end of the September, with their only other fixture since then a 2-2 draw away to Brighton.

However, while Jurgen Klopp's side will be itching to get back to winning ways following the setback of the VAR debacle, Liverpool have actually been pretty good so far this season, winning five from eight and sitting just three points off league leaders Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Everton – despite a win over Bournemouth last time out – have been in wretched form and appear to be staring down the barrel of another relegation battle as they sit 16th in the Premier League table, having won just twice in 2023/24.

The Reds will be hot favourites when the Toffees come to Anfield on 21 October.

Liverpool vs Everton H2H record

Despite the old adage that form goes out the window in derbies, Liverpool's recent record against their city rivals really reflects the difference in their standings.

The Reds have lost just twice against Everton in the last 13 years in all competitions, while the 2-0 defeat at Anfield during that best-forgotten 2020/21 season was the first time the red half of Merseyside had experienced a home loss in the fixture since 1999.

Liverpool have won eight of the last ten meetings between the sides at Anfield, with an aggregate score of 22-10.

Jurgen Klopp H2H record vs Everton

That 2021 defeat at Anfield is the only time Klopp has been on the losing side in a Merseyside derby since taking charge of Liverpool in October 2015.

His personal record against the Blues reads: played 17, won ten, drawn six, lost one.

Klopp's biggest win over Everton by margin of victory actually came during his first season, as the Reds ran out 4-0 winners in April 2016, with Divock Origi and Philippe Coutinho among the goals.

Origi was again on the scoresheet in the 5-2 victory in December 2019, during the title-winning season. Meanwhile, Klopp's biggest away win in the fixture was the 4-1 back in December 2021.

Jurgen Klopp H2H record vs Sean Dyche

Klopp has faced current Everton boss Sean Dyche 13 times to date, during his spell as Liverpool boss, with the two enjoying something of a personal rivalry.

The two have clashed pitch side and in the media, with Klopp once famously suggesting fans should "watch wrestling if you like this kind of thing" about Burnley's physical tactics under then-manager Dyche.

The pair were also caught on camera rowing in the Anfield tunnel at half-time of a Premier League clash at Anfield back in 2021 – a game that Burnley won 1-0, ending Liverpool's 68-match unbeaten home run.

That Dyche victory was a rarity, though. In 13 meetings, Klopp has inflicted nine defeats on the 52-year-old – only Pep Guardiola (15) can count more.

Dyche has come out victorious against the Liverpool boss just twice, while there have also been two draws.
