RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol has hinted that he could secure a big-money move this summer amid reported transfer interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and a host of other European giants.

The Croatian defender is one of the most exciting players in world football and was in top form at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as Zlatko Dalic's side secured a third-place finish in Qatar. Gvardiol is under contract at Leipzig until 2027 and the Bundesliga club have indicated that they have no intention of parting with their prized asset, but the 20-year-old could be on the move this summer if a big offer were to arrive.

Speaking to UEFA, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Gvardiol admitted that he will finish the 2022-23 season with Die Rotten Bullen and re-evaluate his future.

"Ambitions? Well, I don't really know. It's important for me to be as successful as possible this season, and then when the season is over, I can think about what and how to proceed."

In an interview with Spanish publication AS, the Croatian defender confessed that he followed Liverpool as a child and also admitted that the club has 'stayed in his heart.'

“I watched a lot of Liverpool games with my father and we covered every season in detail. It’s a club that has stayed in my heart."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool's interest in Gvardiol, with Manchester City and Chelsea also in the race to secure his signature. However, it has been reported that he is likely to become the most expensive defender of all time, all but confirming that he is set to command a monstrous transfer fee when he decides to secure a transfer.

Liverpool will have funds available to revamp their squad this summer, but with midfield reinforcements the need of the hour, will they set aside a sizable part of their transfer kitty to make a move for Gvardiol? Only time will tell.
